Own a Facebook Business Page? Then you MUST read this…………………

If you manage a Facebook business page then you will know how Facebook, seems, to show your updates to a fewer number of your fans.

Well, Facebook has recently stated that they are updating their News Feed algorithm. Early tests from this update have shown an increase of engagement between Business pages and their fans.

Announced at an event its Menlo Park HQ Facebook revealed “that’s its average user has 1,500 pieces of information which could run through their News Feed on any given day, but only around 300 of these stories will be displayed.” – this current algorithm took into consideration previous interactions between the fan and the page and interactions from the fans Facebook friends.

However Facebook has announced the new algorithm will change who see’s your business page posts – they have given this new algorithm a very attractive name to those who have a business page, they’re calling it ‘Story Bumping’

‘Story Bumping’ will basically re-show posts from your business page to users who did not scroll down far enough to see it the first time round. The post / story will re-appear near the top of their News Feed if it is still receiving interactions e.g. Likes and comments.

A trial test has been carried out by Facebook and small number of its users. The results show that there was an increase of 5% in the number of likes, comments and shares on organic stories people saw from friends and an 8% increase in likes, comments and shares on the organic stories they saw from business pages.

So let’s hear this in statistical terms:

“Previously, people read 57% of the stories in their News Feed, on average. They did not scroll far enough to see the other 43%. When the unread stories were resurfaced, the fraction of stories read increased to 70%.”

I think all of you business owners who try their best with their pages will agree this is fantastic news and long overdue by Facebook. Business pages should, as the trial indicates, see an increase of 8% in interactions and therefore who sees their posts.

It has seemed to us for a while now that Facebook were making it increasingly harder to promote your page without having to pay Facebook a fee, either advertising or to boost your update.

Thank goodness for an algorithm update which is on your side.
All in all, this should help business pages. However, remember to make your posts interesting and encourage engagement with your fans as much as possible. More engagement with your posts and the more your name will be spread.
