One Media Solutions Facebook Do's and Don'ts

We have moaned on for some time now that Facebook have made it increasingly harder to gain likes without having to run a Facebook ad campaign. (although do read our article on Facebook’s algorithm change)

However, we have come up with a few Do’s and Don’ts , which you can use to help increase your Facebook pages’ profile.

Do fill out your ‘About’ section to the best of your possibility. Make sure you’re giving as much information as possible out about yourself, after all you’re on Facebook to sell, so sell yourself.

Don’t be too keen. Try your best to limit your daily Facebook posts. Remember Facebook moves at a lot more slower pace than Twitter. You don’t want to clog up people’s News Feeds with only your products. People will get bored and will stop interacting with your posts or worst yet even reading them. Instead they can choose to glance over what you have had to say or simply hide your posts from displaying to them. Don’t tire people out.

Do be visual, post photos and videos, obviously keep it industry related to your page but don’t just stick to text.

Don’t be uninteresting. People can tell when you’re posting for the sake of posting. If you’re asking a question be sure to be at the ready with replies.

Do Tag. To us, it seems not enough business pages use the tagging feature. If you work closely with other companies or sell branded products be sure to tag in their Facebook page when posting about them. This will increase the chance of those companies sharing your update.

Don’t just post at any random time. Try to monitor the times of day your posts get the most interaction. Is it first thing in the morning when commuters are on their way to work? Or is it in the evening when they have come home? See when the best time was and use the Facebook scheduling tool to post when is best.

Do encourage people to ‘check in’ if you have a physical location. This is opening up your page to be seen by friends of friends and we all know that number can reach to dizzying heights.

We know no one loves to be told what to do and what not to do but these are the best practices that we have found in order to spread your page for free.

Remember there is also nothing wrong in asking your fans to ‘like and share’ if you’ve put the effort into coming up with great content they will start to share without you even asking.

Thanks for reading our One Media Solutions blog guys, remember we’re all about SEO and being the best Social Media Agency.
