5 Top Tips to Increase Engagement on your Facebook Page.....

To increase engagement in your Facebook page try these simple top 5 tips……..

To continue from yesterday’s blog we’re sticking with everyone’s favourite social media platform, Facebook.

We are all aware of the power boost a strong Facebook page can give to a business, however not all of you have found it that easy to gain engagement.

Social Media is all about conversation so to increase engagement on your page, start a conversation with your fans.

1.       Ask Questions.

Asking questions, naturally, ignites dialogue. Posts which ask questions generate double the amount of comment rates than non-question posts.

2.       Fill In The Blank

One of the most engaging post techniques is one of the most under-used. Brands who use the fill in the blank strategy, e.g. I Love Reading One Media Solutions Blogs Because                               tend to receive NINE times higher engagement rates than any other post technique.

At the moment the only industry which is really using this technique is Retail, however we think most of you can apply this strategy in with your posts.

3.       Facebook Offers

When it comes to running an offer or promotion on your Facebook page keep it to the point and straightforward. Research has shown that the clearer the rules and what you win the more engagement your page will receive.

Offers which receive the most engagement included the following:

“To Get £10 off……..” or “Receive £10 off”

“Here is a £5 voucher………”

Keywords to focus on, are “£ off” and “voucher or coupon”.  Posts which contain these straight to the point rewards receive 55% more engagement than the average post containing the word “offer” or “offer time”.

Posts containing keywords such as “Sale” or “50% off” receive the lowest engagement interaction. So stick to the point and tell fans what monetary value they are getting from you.

4.       Vouchers

Pages which offer vouchers receive the best engagement and shares. When offering vouchers do not leave your fans having to do the brain work or work out what they’re saving. Again, keep it obvious, to the point and direct as to what they’re getting.

People prefer tangible cash discounts rather than being told what percentage they are saving. So let them know “£10 off with this voucher” NOT “Save 10% with this voucher”.

Better yet, have the voucher give them something for FREE e.g. “Free nail varnish with this voucher”. If you own a physical shop you can ask fans to redeem their voucher in store therefore increasing footfall in your premises.

5.       Keep It Simple

While it is important to keep your content interesting and encourage your fans to share research has found that simple posts work best.

The two most successful types of posts contain a single image or only use words.

Status only posts tend to receive as much as 95% higher engagement – wow!

Your Facebook page is a great tool to help you tell the world who you are and what you do and why you’re the best. Hopefully these 5 pointers will help you encourage engagement.

When & What Really is The Best Time to Post on Facebook?

Happy Monday Lovers. Our first blog this week is all about everyone’s favourite big Social Media player………Facebook.

It used to be that business owners would set up a "personal profile page" under their business name to promote their services and products. The all seeing Facebook could see tell this was going on so made Business Pages mandatory. And even though, it seems to us, that Facebook has been around forever (can you remember what your life was like before it? No, us neither) Business Pages have only been around for a mere 3 years.

So when and what is best to post on your Facebook Business Page?

We are still meeting a lot of clients who do not have Facebook profiles but know they need a Facebook page for their business. However, whether you have been on Facebook since your uni days, or new to Facebook this week, research has found best tactics when it comes to posting.

We've found out some very interesting research results below:

Of course, when reading the below please bear in mind who your target market is. Not all findings will be applicable to your industry.

The Best Time for Retailers to Post:

Research has found that the best time for retailers to post, is outside of office hours. In particular after 8.00pm at weeknights. Posts at this time tend to get 20% more engagement.
We have also noticed, during weekdays, that ASOS tend to post between 12.00-2.00pm why? Because this is when most people go on their lunch break and so will check Facebook.

Best Days to Post:

Research has shown that the best days for engagement with your posts are Wednesdays and Sundays. However, most brands which were investigated made sure they posted regularly.

Always remember quality over quantity though.

How Many Times a Day Should You Post:

As Facebook’s News Feed is slower moving, the last you want to do is clog up peoples feed with your sales messages.  We advise most of clients to post no more than 2 times a day. (Again just bear in mind your target market, this is simply a rule of thumb).

Research has found that posting one to two times a day produces 40% higher user engagement.
Having said that brands that post between two to six times per week produced 70% user engagement.
We’ll say it again quality over quantity.

Length of Your Posts:

A long looking post consisting purely of text will put people off straight away.
Try and use images (great way to showcase products) and keep sentences short and to the point.

Posts around 80 characters long receive around 65% higher engagement.

Research has found posts which are short and to the point, under 40 characters, generate the highest engagement. However, only 5% of Business Pages post using under 40 characters.

Our next blog will be all about the best ways you can increase engagement on your page, so keep your beautiful eyes peeled for it.

We love to hear from our readers so if you agree or disagree with our findings please leave your comments below. We are a Social Media Agency who love to build up a great relationship with our clients.

Social Stats That Tell You To Use These Platforms.........

We promised part 2 of this blog on Social Media Stats and here it is. This blog covers, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest and Vine. We tell you how many people are using these platforms and should you be using them from a business point of view. We think these are four great Social Media platforms so let’s get more of a breakdown of them shall we:

YouTube:

Once the home for people posting random funny videos but now a massive player in the marketing world. Why does YouTube work so well for businesses? Because people love to see how things work and showing this visually gets the message across to consumers so much quicker than anything before.

It has over 1 billion unique visitors each month. That’s a huge amount of eyes that could be seeing what makes your business stand out from the rest.

Instagram:

We wrote an excellent blog on Instagram (even if we do so ourselves), Instagram is a Social Media platform which is easy to use, gives you great ability to build up a following and best of all show case your products and services.

Facebook purchased Instagram in 2012, when it had 13 million users. Facebook paid top dollar for Instagram and quite rightly so, as within less than 2 years the sites users has grown to 130 million.
16 billion photos have been shared on the site in total – that’s a lot of happy snappers.

Pinterest:

Talking about great visual content brings us to Pinterest. No doubt you have heard of this Social Media platform, where you can create your own mood boards and pin images on them which you have found whilst being on the web.

It captured lots of people’s imagination and because of this grew quickly.

Pinterest currently has 70 million active users. 80% of these are women. So if your target market is females this a platform you should definitively be using.

Vine:

One of the newest to feature on our list, launched in January 2013. Vine is a product of Twitter, and is a 6 second looping video social network. Allowing you to take and post quick videos.

Twitter announced, appropriately with a tweet, that Vine has 40 million users. This kind of growth in less than a year is impressive to say the least. Twitter must be very happy with themselves and quite rightly so.

So is Vine worth using from a business point of view? We say yes! It’s easy to use, obviously easy to tweet and therefore easy to spread your message. A short video can tell an awful lot.
