Sticking With Social Media……….

Whilst sat in our offices happily working away for our client’s: blogging, optimising, managing and strategically planning (gosh we do sound like master minds, which we are) we have put together a few short pointers, which we feel if you adhere to, will take you to the moon and back with your Social Media accounts.

Pinterest:
  • Avoid human faces. Images without human faces get repinned 23 percent more often than images with faces.
  • Look for red. Images that are predominantly red or orange see twice as many repins as other images.
Facebook:
  • Be positive. Positivity is more appealing and inspiring for your fans, and it will encourage them to share your post.
  • Provide a link. Drive fans to your website. After all, your Facebook page exists to support your business.
Google+:
  • Tag people. When appropriate, tag brands and people in your posts to encourage them to comment or engage with you.
  • Include large images. Don't settle for the tiny photo that automatically appears when you include a link in a post. Upload a larger one to grab people's attention.
Twitter:

  •  Good Grammar: Don’t let the 140 character limit be an excuse to cut corners and look messy. Try fit in appropriate grammar and don’t abbreviate words where possible
  • Encourage RT’s: To encourage Re Tweets, there is nothing wrong with asking your follows to do so. If asking for a RT then try to keep your tweet no more than 100 characters, this leaves room for quotes and comments.

Social Media is all about conversation and sharing. If you are finding that Social Media is taking up too much of your time then do consider a Social Media Agency. Agencies, like One Media Solutions, are here to help free up your time and run social media campaigns consistently on your behalf.

Visual Content is better for Social Media……..

We all know how Facebook started, don’t we? Well in case you don’t here’s our brief description:  good old Mark Zuckerberg took an online social media idea and expanded it. He built Facebook on the back of the idea of ‘Hot or Not’ – a social media site where you would upload a picture of yourself and people could rate whether they thought you were hot or not.

Facebook encouraged it’s users to upload photos even whole albums from nights out and ‘tag’ friends in them. Because pictures could be tagged and the social network easily connected people (when it first started out you had to have a university email address to sign up) it was a huge hit, and the rest, they say, is history.

With Facebook ever changing its interface, most recently admitting the new interface was to make users profiles come across more like a magazine pages with a huge cover photo at the head – basically it was to easily showcase photos and visual content more.

It’s not just Facebook where visual images work well. Just look at Pinterest, this is the fastest growing Social Media site and is purely visual based. Instagram has more than 100 million users and continues to increase in popularity. And Twitters app updates makes it ever easier to tweet pictures.

So why is visual content better?

Apparently our brains understand an image 60,000 times faster than text.

Infographs are hugely popular now, because they help people understand information easily with added visuals.

If you are original and maybe just a tad clever with images then your followers are more like to share them.

So come on guys get adding more pictures across your social media campaigns. Add text or quick captions to pictures and hey presto you’ll have an image worth going viral with your message on it.
Remember One Media Solutions is a Social Media Agency who are on hand to help you with all of your online presence needs.

What If Your Target Demographic is Not Using Social Media………..

There are loads of statistics on Social Media to back up the importance of why you need to be using it to promote and extend your brand. Statistics to show how many people are actually using social media and how likely they are to buy from you as a result of seeing you on social media.

What these statistics also prove is that not everybody is on, or using social media, and it could be that your target demographic is not (well not yet anyway). Even if your target audience is not on Social Media or it could be, you, or your CEO is convinced they’re not, you can still harness the greatness of the Web by making it easy for the likes of Google to find your website. Yes that’s right your Social Media efforts support your SEO strategy.

Another reason to start your Social Media action plan early is, like any great marketing technique, it can take time to build up momentum and presence. I fear a lot people see Social Media as a quick and cheap magic wand that will work overnight. Don’t get me wrong, Social Media is quick and (relatively) cheap and has been known to have given businesses results they only thought possible from a magic wand, but when not maintained properly Social Media can bring in next to no results.

If companies are only screaming their sales messages in one direction (from themselves to the consumer) as and when they remember or can be bothered to login to their accounts, then they will result in getting very little back in terms of enquiries. The key is to have a well maintained account which encourages their following to get involved and interact with their messages.

Formulate regular Social Media campaigns that targets your demographic and keep them engaged with your brand.
